About RAeS

Established in 1886, the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) – the oldest aeronautical society in the world - is an international, multidisciplinary professional institution dedicated to the global aerospace community. Among its 23 Specialist Groups – which organise lectures, conferences and meetings across a wide range of subjects from Aerodynamics through to Women in Aviation and Aerospace - is the Rotorcraft Group (formed after the amalgamation in 1960 of the Helicopter Association of Great Britain with the RAeS) which among other activities arranges the annual Cierva Named Lecture.
