Description:
The aircraft was piloted by Jean Boulet and flight test engineer Robert Malus. The designation of the aircraft changed to SA.316 after the 1970 merger of Sud-Aviation, Nord-Aviation and SEREB to become Aerospatiale (see Letter from Roger Connor, VERTIFLITE Spring 2009, page 5).
The SE.3160 was the prototype that led to the production SA.316A and SA.316B.
