Nicolas Florine was an aeronautical engineer born in 1892 in a part of Russia that is now in the Republic of Georgia. His original birth name was Nicolay Anatolyevich Florin. He became a naturalized Belgian citizen after fleeing the Russian civil war in 1920. He found work at the Belgian "Administration de l'Aéronautique" in Brussels.

He designed three experimental rotorcraft including a novel tandem rotor concept that was the first successful tandem rotorcraft to fly (Cornu had flown an earlier machine but it is not clear whether this flew successfully other than just lifting off the ground).
