William (Bill) Snyder was an Honorary Fellow of the Society. Prior to his retiremet Mr. Snyder was the Branch Chief of the Advanced Tilt Rotor Technology Transfer Branch at NASA Ames Research Center.  He had been employed by NASA for 35 years as an aerospace engineer, performing helicopter research and coordinating NASA civil helicopter programs. Before moving to Batter Ground, Mr. Snyder and his family lived in Newport News, Virginia; Fremont; California; and Bruish Prairie, Washington. He received the NASA Medal for Outstanding Leadership in 1994 in recognition of his many contributions to the field of advanced rotorcraft. He was an active member of AHS for 35 years  and served the Society in a number of leadership roles, both on the board of directors and as president of the San Fracisco Chapter and founder of the AHS Pacific Northwest Chapter.

Mr. Snyder died of pancreatic cancer on November 16, 2002. He was 60 years old.
