Lt. Col. David S. Greene, USMC and HUMS Program Manager for Goodrich Government Systems, a corporate member of the Society, was killed July 28, 2004, in Iraq. Greene, an AH-1W Super Cobra pilot, was shot down near Fallujah, Iraq, where he was stationed with his reserve unit. Greene was flying a mission in support of 1 Marine Expeditionary Force when he was killed by small arms fire.
He joined Goodrich in February 2001 as a program manager; he was deployed for active duty in December 2003 and went to Iraq shortly after that. Greene was born August 12, 1964, and he grew up in the Saranac Lake area of New York. He earned his B.S. in Physical Science from the U.S. Naval Academy. Following graduation, he spent eleven years in the Marines as a helicopter pilot.
