Frederik “Ferry” Jan Franciscus de Jong, was a senior engineer with Pratt & Whitney and former member of AHS International, Born and raised in Holland, he emigrated to the U.S. more than 31 years ago where he soon gained U.S. citizenship. In 1985, he earned a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering at Cornell University and during the next ten years served as a research scientist for Scientific Research Associates (SRA) in Glastonbury, Connecticut. He eventually departed SRA to join Pratt & Whitney as a senior engineer. He died on April 8, 2009, after a two-year battle with cancer. Mr. Jong was 53.
