Date of the first heliciopter Type certificate?
06/11/17 1:27 PM

There is currently a milestone in Vertipedia that shows that first helicopter Type certificate was awarded to the Bell 47B on Mar 08, 1946 (see link below).

https://vertipedia.vtol.org/milestones.cfm?milestoneID=10

Other sources (e.g. the FAA TCDS site do not support this date. The FAA site indicates that a Bell Model 47 received the first Type Certificate (H-1) in May 1946, with the Bell 47B receiving a Type Certificate later. I have also seen another reference from Vertiflite May/Jun 1984 indicating a date of Mar 28 1946 for the Model 47. Can anyone help clarify what is one of the most significant dates in helicopter history?
