Additional modification of the Mil Mi-1, the Mi-3  is equipped with the AI-26V radial engine (same as the Mi-1T derivative).  The capacity is increased to a pilot and three passengers.  Main rotor blade count is increased to four; maximum payload is 230 kg.

The designation 'Mi-3' is reused for a modification of the later Mil Mi-2.
